Family Assessment and Contact Centre
Sunlight Assessment and Wayfield Contact
Service
The aim of the service is to provide the people of Medway with a
community resource that supports families who have experienced
difficulties in caring for their children. The service operates
from three centres across Medway, one in Gillingham, one in Chatham
and one in Strood. The Assessment team competes with other
Independent service providers in the area and offers a
comprehensive community based 12-week multi-disciplinary parenting
assessment, to assist the Courts and the Department on the decision
making process for young people subject either to Care Plans or the
PLO process.
The service also supports families
living in the community, by providing time-limited interventions
and offers contact venues and supervisors for young people and
their families. The staff team is multi-disciplined and includes;
Social workers, Counsellor, Nursery officers and Family workers and
has strong links with other community resources; health visitors,
substance misuse teams and Adult services for people with a
learning disability.
